MEMBERS SPEAK

We have closed our claim and everything is great! We just want you to know that we have had the most pleasant experience working with the Mexican Insurance Company on our unfortunate damage to our Toy Hauler trailer. They were always so nice to communicate with and their promptness was outstanding. We are so thrilled! It all started with you helping me with a three way call to them to start the claim. Between our great experience with Vagabundos transferred to the insurance company we will always remain a customer of yours and will highly recommend you all to others that are seeking Mexican Insurance coverage. Thanks again for everything!! Roger and Carol Mears

I would like to pass on my employee commendation for your representative Shawna Newcomb. She was extremely helpful, polite and knowledgeable on our recent conversations and would like to acknowledge her as an outstanding employee of Vagabundos.

Thank you very much. Judy and Carl De Jager

Vagabundos Member Katherine Van Diest is part of an organization based off of the response they had when they as- sisted the delivery of a fi re truck to Mulege in February 2020. They are trying to reach as many fi re departments as they can for equipment donations; as well as volunteers to bring down the supplies they collect.

During the past few years, there has been serious and devastating fi res in Rosarito, Tijuana, Ensenada and more. One of the challenges for fi refi ghters is a lack of proper equipment such as vehicles, tools and specialized clothing to tackle wildfi res. Baja Bridges plans to bring that type of equipment from the United States and distribute to local agencies as well as skills from other professionals and or organizations.

In addition, assistance to various orphanages such as education by way of computer labs, is one of the missions to help with local communities in Baja. Baja Bridges is well connected with organizations such as DIF-Rosarito, DIF-Tijuana, Hearts of Baja, San Felipe Rotary, La Mision Rotary, Mulage Rotary and others.

It is an ongoing challenge to ensure the safety of fi refi ghters and EMT to make sure that they will save those lives who are in danger and to help the orphanages, so donations will help every bit.

Upcoming Caravan 2021 Baja Direct

October 20 – November 3, 2021

The Vagabundos started the Baja Direct caravan in 2003. The caravan was designed for fi rst-time Baja RVers who wanted to experience Baja’s warmth and hospitality. The Wagonmasters goal was to make Baja travel as easy as driving to your local supermarket. A lot has changed in the past 18 years, from the road conditions to the availability of fuel in Baja, however, the demand for this caravan remains. Wagon Master Scott McEwen will be leading the Baja Direct this year. The tour will be 14-15 nights. The tour will start in Mexicali with overnight stops in Gonzaga Bay, Bahia Asuncion, Mulege and Loreto. On the return we will stop at Bahia Conception, San Ignacio, Bahia de Los Angeles and San Felipe. Call the Vagabundos offi ce for more information 800-474-BAJA (2252).

ANNUAL CARAVANS CST# 2044242-40 PASSPORTS WILL BE REQUIRED

BEACHES AND WHALES Express Caravan We are all anxious to resume travel and what better way than in your own RV with a Wagon Master who has been traveling, exploring and fi shing Baja for 30 years. Vagabundos Board of Director Scott McEwen would like to take a group on an adventure of a lifetime. This 10 day itinerary is designed for families, kids/grandchildren, fi rst time travelers to Mexico and experienced explorers who want to meet new friends and travel together.

Safety is the Vagabundos number one concern. If we feel at anytime there is a health or safety concern, we will delay or cancel the trip and give a refund. We have had this procedure in place before COVID and will continue to follow it. However, we know new Members and longtime Members want to experience the humbling encounter with these intelligent mammals in the place they’ve chosen to birth their calves.

The gray whales are Mexican by birth. In one of the most remarkable annual migrations nature off ers, Pacifi c gray whales make the 5,000 mile trip from the chilly feeding grounds of the Arctic to the safety of warm, shallow waters of the Baja Peninsula for their breeding and calving season.

During the height of the season, we will experience whale watching with gray whales. These gray whale wintering areas have developed “friendly” mothers who

bring their calves right up to the boats and enjoy being stroked. Mostly it’s the babies, pushed to the boat by mama whale, who probably learned the behavior as a baby herself, who seem the friendliest and want to play with us. To connect with these friendly whales from a small panga, looking right into their eye rolled toward you, creates a distinctive awareness of these intelligent creatures, enhances the mind and exhilarates the soul.

Fishing in the Loreto Bay National Marine Park can be exceptional for migratory dorado, yellowtail, sailfi sh, marlin and many other resident species.

Diving around the nearby islands is very popular, as is kayaking and viewing several species of whales. Pangas can be chartered for a delightful day picnick- ing and snorkeling on a lovely white-sand beach with several adjoining reefs and numerous tropical fi sh. Several businesses cater to these activities.

Fascinating side trips can be made to Puerto Escondido to the south and the village of San Javier high in the Sierra de La Giganta to the west. Nopolo is a few miles south of Loreto and has a fi ne golf course and a tennis complex.
